The 1619Fest featuring live reggae music will be held at Billsburg Brewery on August 17.
1619Fest is the 400th Anniversary Commemoration of a Consequential Event in American History, the Arrival of Africans.
Join us for the entire day as we recognize this historic time. Events highlighting Jamestown Island that include a visit to the “Angela Site” where archaeologists will share information about details and artifacts that they are discovering on the site where one of the first Africans came to live.
Music begins at 5pm, your ticket gets you access to a live reggae concert, headlined by international reggae artist Akae Beka. Plus opening performances by Mighty Joshua and Cultivated Mind.
Advance tickets are only $30 ($40 at the door) for access to all activities and performances occurring at Billsburg Brewery / James City County Marina.

About Akae Beka
Akae Beka is the current manifestation of an evolving consciousness. Following a quarter of a century as the lead singer and co-founder of the legendary St Croix based band MIDNITE, Akae Beka’s founder has recorded over 70 albums and published a book of poetry titled “Koll Pekude: Word, Sound & Poems” in 2006. The band has performed at music festivals all over the world including Lightning In A Bottle, Envision, Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Reggae on the River, Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, Summerjam, Rototom Sunsplash and Reggae Jam.
Consisting of former MIDNITE band members, the Akae Beka sound builds on a strong spiritual foundation of chanting and trance-inducing performances.
