CULTIVATED MIND, a reggae, dub, and jazz combo from the Hampton Roads area, will appear live at Center Street Grill on January 18. They will be entertaining the Burg with socially-conscious and infectious originals along with medleys of old reggae classics, dub versions of classic soul and blues songs. Their sound is infectious and not to be missed!
Formed by producer and multi-instrumentalist Anthony Brand and artist/percussionist Drew Boyd, and joined by Chad “Yadi Rama” Tyler on bass/keys, Jahvin Purnell on Keys/organ, Mike Michaels on drums/backing vocals, and Mark Kohlman on Sax, plus Anthony Starks on bass/rhythm guitar, Christian Lubertazzi on Sax, and Adam Mack on keys/backing vocals. The band occasionally performs as an acoustic trio for a more intimate musical experience.
Cultivated Mind has produced multiple albums, and have collaborated with a variety of East Coast musicians, as well as performers in Europe and Jamaica. The band’s style is influenced by Steel Pulse, The Police, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bill Whithers, The Clash, Dennis Brown, Desmond Dekker, Connie Francis, Sheppy U, and many more.
