    Do you Love Alpacas and want to cut them? Fox Wire Farm Alpacas will host their annual shearing celebration on Saturday, April 11. This event is where their dozens of alpacas get sheared to be ready for the warm summer weather ahead.

    The farm will host one hour and three hour shearing tours. One hour shearing tours depart from the Fox Wire Farm Store & Boutique at 8105 Richmond Road, Suite 201. Three hour shearing tours can drive straight to the farm at 300 Turners Neck Road. Cost of the one hour tour is $10 cash/check or $11 debit/credit card. Cost of the three hour tour is $35.

    One hour tour times are on the half hour from 9-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-3 p.m. Three hour tours begin at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Advanced reservations are highly encouraged, but are not required. Three hour tours do require advanced payment. To make a reservation, please call 757-707-5052.

    All participants in shearing tours must be at least five years old.

    Fox Wire Farm Alpacas is looking for volunteers that are 18 years of age and older. Volunteer assignments include tour bus drivers, security, alpaca walkers, fleece crew, store/tour support, and general guest support/site maintenance. Volunteers will receive a continental breakfast, lunch, a T-shirt and plenty of beverages throughout the day. To volunteer, please call Tamera at 757-879-1037.

    Fox Wire Farm Alpacas is made up of approximately 200 acres of farmland, pastureland, woods, creeks and is the home to some of the happiest alpacas around. The farm is situated on its own peninsula at the end of a mile long private road. Fox Wire Farm is proud to claim the highest elevation in James City County at just over 100’ above sea level.
