Greater Williamsburg Ranked Top 20

What does Williamsburg Virginia have in common with Hampi India, Munich Germany, Salvador Brazil and The Azores in Portugal? They were all named in the Top 15 of the New York Times 52 Places To Go in 2019.

Unveiled Jan. 10, the Greater Williamsburg area ranks in at an impressive 12th on the list of top worldwide travel spots. The publication cited the area’s unique opportunities for cultural and historical immersion as one of the many reasons to visit – especially as part of Williamsburg’s 400th anniversary celebration. In collaboration with the Commonwealth of Virginia, James City County and American Evolution, the 400th anniversary will honor the arrival of the first African slaves, the first representative assembly, and the country’s first Thanksgiving. Jamestown Settlement’s exhibit, TENACITY, highlighting the contributions of Colonial American women, was also a factor. Tenacity Jamestown Settlement American Evolution 400th anniversary exhibit
