Night of Music & Magic on the Yorktown Waterfront

Get ready for an enchanting evening on the historic Yorktown waterfront! The Virginia Symphony Orchestra is back for its 27th annual outdoor concert on Saturday, August 30. Let the summer air fill with music as the orchestra, led by the brilliant Chia-Hsuan Lin, takes the stage at 7:30 p.m.
Make an evening of it and arrive early! The celebration kicks off at 6 p.m. with a special patriotic prelude by the award-winning Fifes and Drums of York Town. Then, get ready to showcase your festive spirit because blue ribbons will be awarded for the most creative picnic spreads! So, pack your cooler, grab your lawn chairs and blankets, and prepare to show off your style.
This year’s concert theme, “Stars & Stripes & Symphonies,” is a powerful tribute to the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. The evening’s program is a blend of stirring music and powerful storytelling, featuring iconic pieces like Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, a symbol of Allied victory, alongside Sibelius’ Finlandia, Richard Rodgers’ Victory at Sea, and patriotic favorites from John Williams and William Grant Still. It’s a moving and magnificent celebration of resilience, unity, and the American spirit.
This magical, free concert is made possible by the incredible support of the community, the Celebrate Yorktown Committee, and the hard work of dedicated volunteers.
