If you haven’t seen a live music event in Yorktown don’t miss one from the 19th annual Rhythms on the Riverwalk concert series kicks off on Thursday, September 5. These free outdoor performances from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays through mid-October. Visitors can expect several musical genres including country, rhythms & blues, jazz, Motown, and even a little swing! Here is the 2024 line-up.
September 5: Brasswind
An electrifying group of fun-loving, experienced entertainers who bring the house down with their smashing covers of hits from Motown to Michael Jackson. If you love an act with an incredible stage presence, you’ll love Brasswind!
September 12: The Top Hats Orchestra
A night with Hampton Road’s premier swing and dance band. The Top Hats Orchestra is a 12-piece band featuring the talents of some of the area’s finest musicians. Performing for more than 30 years, they play hits from the 40s and 50s. If you like Count Basie, Glen Miller, Big Bad VooDoo Daddy, and Brian Setzer, you don’t want to miss this show!
September 19: The Michael Clark Band
These local favorites return for a night of blues, Motown, disco, funk, and pop hits. Whether honoring the original rendition of a classic number or performing an original tune, the music is presented in the band’s own funky style!
September 26: LadySmyth
The eclectic band covers a wide variety of top country songs as well as rock, pop, and Motown. They’ll keep you dancing from the first beat to the last note!
October 3: Paul Urban & Friends
If you’re a fan of jazz and blues music, we’ve got a fun night for you! This band, from Chesapeake, Virginia, is known for its contemporary musical styling. They also play southern rock and country favorites.
October 10: Good Shot Judy
It wouldn’t be a Rhythms on the Riverwalk concert series without this talented group in the lineup! They put on a stellar performance every time they play in Yorktown, filling the waterfront with the smooth sounds of jazz, a little swing, and even some big band favorites. Good Shot Judy has opened for national acts like Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Squirrel Nut Zippers, and The Cherry Poppin’ Daddies.
Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating. Coolers and alcohol are permitted in designated areas at Riverwalk Landing. Rotating food trucks will be onsite, providing snacks and dinner offerings during the show. Many Historic Yorktown restaurants will also be open for dine-in and take-out options.
Additional parking can be found at York Hall, the County Administration Building, York-Poquoson Court Complex, and other designated lots throughout town. The Yorktown Trolley will run until 9 p.m. on concert nights with a modified route that still includes some stops on the outskirts of town.
