A fire in James City County leaves one person dead and another person hospitalized for breathing issues. The deceased has been identified as the homeowner, Thomas M. Collier Jr., 72 years of age. The James City County Fire Marshal’s Office has completed the investigation and determined that the fire was caused by smoking materials.

At approximately 07010 am., the James City County Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Worplesdon in the Ford’s Colony subdivision in Williamsburg, Virginia.

It took the fire department 30 minutes to extinguish the flames. Crews got the fire under control at 7:36 a.m.

One person was reported deceased in the fire and another person was transported to the hospital with breathing issues.

The identification of the deceased is pending notification of next of kin. The James City County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
