Longtime Williamsburg business Lumber Liquidators officially began operating in its new headquarters at 4901 Bakers Mill Lane in Richmond on November 18, transferring more than 200 employees and leaving the 315,000-square-foot building off Barhamsville Road in Toano empty.
Lumber Liquidators new headquarters located in the former Southern Season facility at 4901 Bakers Mill Lane in the Libbie Mill-Midtown development,
The Williamsburg location had been Lumber Liquidators’ corporate headquarters since 2004 earning James City County over $100,000 per year in annual tax revenue.
The move is expected to be complete by December when the lease on the Toano property expires. As of this writing, James City County has not announced a new tenant.
While executives say that the Toano and Williamsburg community has been a supportive home base for the company’s headquarters over the last 15 years, they also believe that the new location in Henrico County will better fit with their shifting goals, new leadership, product innovations and hiring needs. The company plans to close their in-house finishing operations and have sold the manufacturing equipment and supplies to Delta Hardwood.
Lumber Liquidators, founded in 1994, is the largest specialty retailer of hardwood flooring in North America, selling over 400 styles of hardwood, engineered, bamboo, laminate, vinyl plank and tile flooring.
