Jason’s style—often described as “swampfunk” or contemporary blues fusion—mixes blues-rock, gritty New Orleans funk, jazz fusion, soul, and R&B into a vibrant musical gumbo reminiscent of late 1960s and early 1970s artists.
Key influences include Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, Galactic, The Meters, and even Metallica, whose Master of Puppets inspired his early guitar passion. His bandmates—many with extensive backgrounds in jazz, gospel, and military music—bring additional depth, allowing the group to improvise freely in live performances .
Jason Cale has released original material like the EP Gator by the Tail, featuring tracks such as “Gator by the Tail,” “Get Gone,” “LA Moon,” “Live It Up,” and “This Is Love” Their setlists often include deep funk tunes like “Louisiana Moon,” “I’ve Had Enough,” and “What Ya Say,” with each performance being a dynamic, improvised experience YouTube. The band is known for powerful live shows and has shared stages with artists including Eric Gales and Foghat, while also being part of the Virginia Commission for the Arts touring roster since 2023.
