Gone but not forgotten: our Fallen Heroes Remembered
WE NEED YOU to tell their story because they cannot
Williamsburg Parks and Recreation would like to honor and remember the sacrifice of our fallen Military, Fire, EMS and Law Enforcement members by sharing their fallen hero stories at Waller Mill Park. During Memorial Day weekend, we honor those who were killed in the line of duty.
The public is invited to participate in the event by sharing their story about a fallen hero. It is so important for us to continue to honor those that made the ultimate sacrifice. We hope this tribute can provide support and healing to those who grieve the loss of a loved one who was taken too soon. 
Remembrance signs will be on display Saturday, May 23, 2020 – Monday, May 25, 2020 at Waller Mill Park from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm located at 901 Airport Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188. All are welcome to visit the park and read the stories of those that were taken too soon.
Submit A Fallen Hero Story
If you would like to submit a fallen hero story, please provide the following information.
Contact Information
Please provide your name, contact phone #, contact email, relationship to person being remembered, fallen hero’s name, age (00/00/00-00/00/00), hometown and state and date of death.
The Person Being Remembered
The full name of the person you are honoring with their story. Police Department, Fire Department or Military branch (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, National Guard, Navy) and conflict served (Afghanistan and Iraq, September 11, Gulf War, Vietnam, Korea, WWII, WWI, Peacetime, other).
The Honoree’s Short Bio & Story
Provide us a bio with the above information that is short (100 words or less), and paints a picture of who the person was and if they died in the line of duty or from injury while on duty.
Photo
Please submit a photo along with your submission. Photos of person being honored in uniform are preferred by not necessary.
Submissions
Submit your story to parksandrecreation@williamsburgva.gov along with .jpg or .png photo. Information and photo can also be mailed to Quarterpath Recreation Center, 202 Quarterpath Road, Williamsburg VA 23185. Photos submitted by mail will not be returned.
Deadline
The deadline for submission is Monday, May 18, 2020.
