Colonial Williamsburg entered the Super Bowl advertising frenzy in 2016. Locals rejoiced at seeing their town during the game.

The 30 second commercial, narrated by former “NBC Nightly News” anchor Tom Brokaw, was part of Colonial Williamsburg Foundation’s campaign to relate our country’s history to modern issues.

Viewers in the New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. markets on CBS saw the 30 second version but the Foundation put a 60 second version online.

The ad featured emotional images of U.S. presidents, historic innovators, accomplishments and seminal events. The ad wasn’t without controversy depicting the World Trade Center rising from the ashes of 9/11 Ground Zero.
